The Umgebindehaus combines life and work: Home weaving and later the textile industry shaped the villages of Upper Lusatia: a loom rattled in almost every Umgebinde house. Farming villages became "homeworking settlements" and later industrial towns.
The Umgebindehouses and striking factory buildings are witnesses to this development. The tour traces this connection and focuses on some fresh ideas for the future.
